People who listen to just about everything Siltbreeze puts out are about to be surprised by this. It's definitely not any lo-fi punk. It's more like psychedelic rock mixed in with some drone. Blues Control have been doing this for a while now with their two previous releases Blues Control and Puff and the new album Local Flavor is no different.
There's not a whole lot I can say about this. All four tracks are very repetitive but slowly progress into weird pseudo-nostalgic psych rock jams. To begin with "Good Morning", it has this quick drone build up that goes for about a few seconds and starts jamming with guitar, piano and... drums? It's pretty obvious it's a drum machine or tape because of its "fake" sound, but it doesn't take anything away from the song. "Rest On Water" is next. The piano and guitar accompany some saxophone and make a weird 80's-esque drone love song, simply put. "Tangier" has some cheesy vocoder call and response going and forms into this freaky techno song a la Ducktails. "On Through The Night" is the standout track here and also the final track. It takes all aspects of the album (drone, psychedelic rock, ambient, etc.) and puts them all into a 16 minute epic/paradise.
It may not be the best Blues Control album to start with, but if you've already heard Puff and such, definitely take the time to listen to this.
