Now, I found out about this just a few days ago because it's been hyped due to its future release on Frenchkiss Records. I got this as the self-released version because I was a little interested in hearing this because of yet another made up tag from a band that sounds different: Slowcore. This review will be the opposite of the tag. Quick and to the point of this album. Now, maybe I need to go more into detail over this album but honestly, I wasn't too impressed with this album to go into detail in the first place.
Just about every song on this album was the same except one thing; time. Time was pretty much the only thing that sets this band apart from contemporaries. Just because it's a little different doesn't mean it's the hot new thing that just everybody is gonna die over. The main problem was that in every song on the album had these three minute intros that I felt were more like an endurance test. Most of the time, endurance tests are for things too intense that you can't bare. Well, this was different. The intros to the songs were so boring because they had that kind of weak and crying voice singing over one sustained keyboard note. This isn't interesting, there's no background or depth to it. It's just plain boring. The noisy parts were the only thing good about the songs, but the noisy parts all lasted about a minute. Take out all 30 minutes of sleepy time music and you've got yourself a good album. "Two" was the best and only completely good track. But the whole album was OK, I guess.
