These guys are rad. There is really nothing new or groundbreaking here, it's just three dudes from Montreal kicking out some tracks. Why the hell post it then i hear you say? Because these guys really make good songs. They do. I like to think this is what a collab between Teenage Fanclub circa Grand Prix and The Posies would sound like. The vocals are piercing and yelped at times, but throughout the whole record they keep a really sweet melodic tone to the music that leaves it swirling around in your head. "Oh No!" and "Bearcub" are two tracks on the album that rock this move very well. Spiky guitar and awkward off beat drums pop up reguarly on tracks in places where you think, heck, do they know what they're doing? But that's what makes this record work so well. It keeps you guessing. You think you have the sound pegged and they throw some stuff in your face that should not be in a record like this!
If you like your indie/post-punk guitar bands this sound is right up your street. Like I said, not boundary pushing, but these guys give it a damn good effort that is unmistakeably their own. Oh Yeah.
