The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses (Silvertone, 1989)

In America, it always seems like we're waiting for a band across the pond to make it big just like The Beatles. A band that will change everything. Oasis tried but Americans didn't get it except for "Wonderwall". Blur had "Song 2" that got pretty big. The only band that Americans seem to like these days is Coldplay. I like Coldplay (insert joke from The 40 Year Old Virgin) but bands like The Stone Roses, should've gotten the success.

The Stone Roses formed in 1984 in Manchester by Ian Brown. After a year of playing small gigs, they recorded an album with John Leckie who has worked in the past with John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney's Wings, and Pink Floyd. The album was released on May 2nd, 1989. Many critics and fans till this day will agree that their first album is one of the most important albums ever released in the UK.

The opening track, "I Wanna Be Adored" is one of the greatest openers I've ever heard in my entire life. It begins with an atmospheric collage of sounds. 40 seconds later, the bass comes in. Followed by the guitars, then the drums. At 1:30, your life has changed. No seriously. I'm actually listening to it right now and I'm getting goosebumps.

From the opener, "I Wanna Be Adored" to the spellbinding ending, "I Am The Resurrection", this album is epic. I really can't go into further detail of this album. It's one of those albums where it just leaves you speechless. If you're a fan of any band in the 90s Britpop scene, you will like this album without a doubt. If you're not a fan, don't even bother listening to this.
