The Mayfair Set are a supergroup consisting of Mike from Blank Dogs and Dee Dee from Dum Dum Girls. I found this a little overrated. It's nothing epic or groundbreaking; it sounds like what it is, Dum Dum Girls and Blank Dogs. The chorus laden barotone of Mike Sniper's voice and the 80's-reminiscent bass, Dee Dee's distinctive voice, and the average tom-tom-snare drum beat. The only song I really found catchy was "Junked!" and that's the first track. But the rest is decent. Every song just sounds like a Dum Dum Girls song and a Blank Dogs song being played at the same time. So why not buy a Dum Dum Girls album and a Blank Dogs album respectively?
I'm not going to lie, I really like both Blank Dogs and Dum Dum Girls. I'm never disappointed with what they put out. Young One wasn't much of a disappointment. Dum Dum Girls and Blank Dogs don't really fit as a supergroup except for the fact that they both use lo-fi's biggest portion: GarageBand, but curiosity got the best of me. Even though they're not fit as a supergroup, I'd still give this to a fan of either band because the songs aren't bad, they're just a little generic compared to what I've already heard.
